The most family-friendly
Beautiful Pacific Heights is a family-friendly neighborhood for this upcoming Halloween trick-or-treating evening. The neighborhood is full of upscale homes and residents that welcome thousands of trick-or-treaters. This is the sort of neighborhood that you can let your kids wander ahead of you as you meander along the well-lit streets of this bustling area. Not only will your children get their fair share of candy, you'll also get to take in the breathtaking views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay.
Hip, hip, hooray. This Halloween can be an amazing adventure if you check out South Beach for a night of candy hunting. South Beach offers great walkability, plenty of houses for trick-or-treating, and an exciting show put on by the residents. Many of the residents turn their homes into haunted houses or creepy yards for the children to enjoy.
The best candy
Let's be realistic. As parents, we know that the end goal for every Halloween kid is the amount of candy that ends up in the pillowcase. If you have a child who is looking for the most amount of candy in one night, then Presidio Heights is the place to be this Halloween. The matrons of Presidio Heights spoil trick-or-treaters each year, allowing them to take handfuls of candy at each door. Perhaps it is because they love to see the smiles on the costumers' faces or they know that parents will take relief in their child's sugar crash at the end of the night by stealing a few pieces of candy.
Most unique treats
There is a ton of fun to be had on the streets of Haight-Ashbury. The neighborhood is walkable for all lengths of legs and is a wonderful trick-or-treating place for the older crowd of children. On the streets, you will find the most couture costumes, hippest hipsters, and novelty candies hand-crafted from the residents. Last year, for example, my daughter received a bag of homemade salt-water taffies. Come early, come late - it won't matter, because the residents stay up late and hand out bagged candy to stragglers.
Best all around
As an urban parent myself, I go trick-or-treating in the Mission every single Halloween night, in part because I live here, and in part because I am always satisfied with the outcome. It is the hip, urban neighborhood vibes alongside the family essence that is ingrained in every stitch of the Mission District. Mission provides just the right amount of candy, the right amount of dressed-up homes, and a diverse set of costumed kiddies.
In light of good spirits and ravishing Halloween costumes, have a safe and fun night of trick-or-treating in our beautiful town of San Francisco.
