I make caramelized pears using butter. I don't use sugar. Just really really ripe pears. For one pear, use one tablespoon of butter.

1. Slice your pears thin.
2. Heat the butter in a pan.
3. Add the pears.
4. Cook until golden brown, but not gooey.
