I took it upon myself to teach her for kindergarten. And my curriculum wouldn't be just worksheets and readings. I would incorporate adventures and field trips and real-life experiences into the study. After all, an education isn't just reading, writing, and math. Is it?
Another major facet of her education would be learning sciences that she is interested in and planning lessons around what is interesting to her. We started out with astronomy and have moved into biology. She can tell you about the characteristics of living things and what respiration means. But, shoot, this is hard, and I am tired.
Well, this has been a lot harder than I thought it would be. Staying structured with her schooling, while maintaining my freelance career has been a struggle. But, we are doing it, and I won't give up. Our schedule has become looser and some days we a heck of a lot more playing than we do schooling, but she is learning.
I wanted to start a homeschool corner on my blog because in my research for homeschool assistance and community, I didn't find what I was looking for. I found a lot of Christian-based homeschooling, which is fine, but for my purposes, her education is about building a love of learning in a wholesome way...and sadly, a lot of the Christian-based homeschooling materials are full of holes.
This section will be designed to provide you with worksheets, workbooks, activities and of course somewhere to feel like you are going crazy, but with a lot of other homeschool parents.
